Tomaatti is a web-application concept that provides comparison of groceries between grocery chains in Helsinki.
We started the project because price of the groceries in Finland is 1/5th above the EU mean value. Moreover, as suggested by Tarja Cronberg (Former Minister of Labour) "Finnish consumers need transparency in the distribution, pricing and sales of groceries." We initiated the concept with one product — the Finnish tomato— because it is standard and available everywhere with high price point fluctuations during the year. The service concept compares the price differences of Finnish tomatoes between the biggest Finnish logistics chains and LiDL as a foreign competitor.
We participated in the Apps4Finland competition with this idea and were one of the finalists in the 'concept' category.
